WHAT TO EXPECT

A typical session lasts 50-60 minutes. Weekly or biweekly appointments are the norm. We will spend our time together in a therapeutic conversation.  Some clients prefer to have a set day and time for their appointments others like to schedule a convenient time for their next appointment at the end of the session.  
During your appointment the following may happen;

  • Identification of healthy coping techniques that have worked for you in the past and development of new coping strategies.
  • Simple, step by step cognitive behavioral therapy exercises,
  • Exploration of unhealthy patterns of behavior, such as being being self-critical or pushing people away,
  • Examination of styles of communication, for example being passive aggressive,
  • Detection of unhelpful thinking such as black and white thinking or catastrophizing,
  • Identification of strengths and existing healthy behaviors, 
  • Examination of Attachment Styles.
